Raymond K. Conrad

January 11, 1927 — June 19, 2014

Raymond K. "Pap" Conrad, 87, of Allentown, died on Thursday, June 19, 2014 after a battle with melanoma. He was born January 11, 1927; son of the late Chester and Mayme (Kocher) Conrad. Pap was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce A. (Wisser) Conrad. Pap enlisted in the US Navy at the age of 17. He proudly served as a quartermaster aboard the U.S.S. Furse (DD-882) during World War II. After the war, he returned to his career in the soft drink and beer business which started at the age of 14. He worked as a truck driver and route salesman for Ross Distributing and later retired as a Manager, after 20 years of service for Brewers Outlet. Family was very important to Pap and he retired in 1991 to care for his grandchildren, who he loved very much. He enjoyed making crafts with them and following their endeavors. He was also a life member of the Fraternal Order of Police and volunteered countless hours to Dream Come True.

Survivors: Pap will be dearly missed by his children, Roger R. Conrad and his wife, Katherine of Trexlertown; Dwight E. Conrad and his wife, Peggy of Breinigsville and Rayann Vasko and her husband, Bernie of Bethlehem as well as his grandchildren, Jason Conrad, Jennifer Sinclair, Shannon Conrad, Daniel Conrad, Matthew Conrad, Andrew Vasko and Austin Vasko and siblings, Lorraine Gentile, George Conrad, Gloria Martin and Chester Conrad. He was predeceased by his siblings, Ruth, Harold and Jack Conrad.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2014 from 9-10 AM with a service to immediately follow at 10 AM at The Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018. Burial with military honors will be held at Cedar Hill Memorial Park. Contributions may be made to Dream Come True, PO Box 21167 Lehigh Valley PA 18002.
