Raymond M. Bussemer

Raymond Bussemer, 95, of Cherry Hill, NJ and most recently of Bethlehem Twp., died on Saturday, May 26, 2018. He was born October 30, 1922 in Philadelphia, PA; the middle child of 5 to his parents, the late Frank and Pauline (Schlernitzauer) Bussemer. Raymond is survived by his devoted wife of 71 years, Marie (Masgai) Bussemer. The two met doing something that Raymond loved, dancing.

Raymond proudly served as a Staff Sergeant in the US Army Air Corps during WWII. Upon returning home from war, Raymond attended and graduated from Temple University. He worked in the insurance industry for INA which later became Cigna, retiring as the director of safety.

He will be remembered for his ability to perform many tasks well. He was an excellent handy man, avid golfer, was a ham radio operator and he enjoyed dancing, particularly square dancing. Raymond was also an artist; painting portraits and writing poetry brought him peace. He was a talented guitar and keyboard musician. In the 1960's and 70's, Raymond was very active in the Cherry Hill, NJ American Legion Post 372. He provided a lot of amusement for the members with his comedy skits at their functions. In 2017, Raymond was recognized by the Warriors' Watch Organization of South Jersey. He was awarded a plaque and memento book recalling his exploits in Europe during WWII. Raymond was a positive force of energy; he had a wonderful attitude towards life and was quick to lend a helping hand.

Raymond will be dearly missed by his wife, Marie; daughters, Sharyn Baenziger and Beverly Martino; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Connell Funeral Home is honored to assist with arrangements. A visitation will be held on Friday, June 1, 2018 from 10:00-10:30 a.m. immediately followed by Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be held privately at Locust Wood Cemetery, Cherry Hill, NJ.
