Richard Barrett Muschlitz

June 20, 1983 — January 22, 2011

Richard ?Ricky? Barrett Muschlitz, 27, of Palmer Township, PA died on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at Easton Hospital in Easton, PA. Born June 20, 1983 in Bethlehem, he was the son of Marie Grunwald Muschlitz and Richard M. Muschlitz.

Ricky was an attorney, passing the bar exams in Pennsylvania and New Jersey in three consecutive days. Just last year he started his own private practice in Bethlehem. Prior to starting his own practice he worked as an assistant to the district attorney, first in Wayne County, PA and then Lehigh County. He was a graduate of Notre Dame High School in 2001, Moravian College in 2005 and Pace Law School in 2008. He excelled in sports at both Notre Dame and Moravian College, especially football, his great love, beginning from his early years playing for The Bethlehem Township Bulldogs.

He was the 2005 recipient of the National Football Foundation and Hall of Fame's College Scholar-Leader-Athlete Award at Moravian College.

While at Pace Law School he was part of the National White Collar Crime Mock Trial Competition at Georgetown Law, with Pace finishing 2nd out of entrants from prestigous universities from around the country. He was a member of the Lehigh County Bar Association, Wayne County Bar Association, American Bar Association and the Criminal Defense Association for Pennsylvania.

He will be lovingly remembered by his mother, Marie Grunwald Muschlitz of Palmer Township, father, Richard M. Muschlitz of Bethlehem, sister, Janel M. wife of William Ojeda and their daughter Camille Emery of Colorado, and grandparents, Henry C. and Patricia E. Grunwald of Bethlehem Township.

In addition, he is survived by maternal aunts, Patti, wife of Beaver Baranowski, Tina, wife of Leroy Moyer, and paternal aunts, Sandy, wife of Glenn Jacoby, Debbie, wife of Mike Kopp, Paula, wife of Ed Muller and paternal uncle Jeff and wife Kalee, 16 cousins, 6 great cousins and an abundance of friends that he called "his brothers".

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Paul and Marie Muschlitz and, maternal uncle, Cliff Grunwald.



SERVICES

A viewing will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2011 at Connell Funeral Home 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018 from 5-9 PM and again on Friday, January 28, 2011 from 5-9 PM in the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 29, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church 1817 1st St. Bethlehem, PA 18020 at 11 AM. Burial will be at Holy Saviour Cemetery in Bethlehem.

Memorial contributions may be made in Ricky?s name to Marie Muschlitz, in care of Connell Funeral home.
