Richard F. “Rick” Simmers, Jr., 70, of Bethlehem, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 9, 2023, at St. Lukes HospitalAnderson Campus.
Born on March 10, 1953, in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late Richard F. and Frances (Ramacci) Simmers, Sr.
A graduate of Liberty High School, Rick went on to work in housing construction before owning his own excavating business. For the last eleven years, he owned and operated Reliable Signs in Nazareth.
Outside of work, he loved making use of his pilots license to take to the sky. When he wasnt able to physically fly, he loved to do so virtually with his friend, Chris. Rick also had a love of plantshe enjoyed collecting them.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife: Susan Lee Simmers, who passed away in 2002; and his beloved dog: Jeppy.
Rick will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Deanna Simmers, who was his world; his sister: Deborah Ann Anfiteatro (Mario); his nephew: Anthony Anfieteatro; his cousin: Linda Collins; longtime family friendwho is like a mother to DeannaTami Howard and her beloved dog, ZsaZsa; and his two grandcats: Pepper and Kimba.
A visitation will be held at the Connell Funeral Home, Inc., 245 East Broad Street, Bethlehem, on Sunday, May 14, 2023, from 10:00am until the time of the Celebration of Life, in the funeral home, at 11:00am
