Richard L. Schoeny

April 25, 1921 — January 30, 2007

Richard L. Schoeny, 85, of Bethlehem, died Tuesday, January 30, 2007 at Hospice of the VNA of St. Luke's in Bethlehem. Born April 25, 1921 in Cincinnati, OH he was the son of the late Margaret M. Burns and Joseph F. Schoeny, Sr. He was the loving husband of Emily M. Vasily-Schoeny. They celebrated their eleventh anniversary on January 6th.

Richard served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during WWII and The Korean War. He retired from the Army in 1963 as a Lieutenant Colonal. During his Army Career, some of his favorite assignments were with the First Cavalry Division, The 82nd Airborne Division and the 18th Airborne Corps. Richard received many awards and decorations during his 22 years of service. After his Army career, he worked as an Area Manager for Sperry and Hutchinson Company. He was a member of the Retired Officer Association and a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Emily, sons, Rick W. Schoeny and his wife Libbye of Little Rock, AK; Judith S. Kramer of Greenville, SC; Gayle M. Kilpatrick and her husband Robert of Bethlehem; Scott D. Schoeny of Greenville, S.C.; step-son, Dr. David B. Vasily and his wife Ida of Bethlehem; eight grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty H. Schoeny, who died in 1990, his brothers, James, Joseph F. and George E. Schoeny and sisters, Bessie Rueve and Alice M. Nastold.

Services: A Funeral Service will be held, Saturday, February 3, 2007 at 9:30 a.m. at Connell Funeral Home, Inc. 245 East Broad St. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church 3219 Santee Rd. Bethlehem.

Visitation will be Friday, February 2, 2007 from 7-9 p.m. and Saturday February 3, 2007 from 8:30-9:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
