Richard Michael Ford

Richard Michael Ford aka Moon, 86, of Bethlehem passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at Holy Family Manor in Bethlehem. Born January 17, 1932 in Bethlehem he was the son of the late Rose (Csapek) and Mark Ford. He was married to Barbara (Collins) Ford who passed away on February 12, 2016.

Richard worked and retired from the New Jersey Zinc Company. He was a member of St. Annes Catholic Church in Bethlehem, Knights of Columbus Trinity Council 313 and Assembly 931 where he was a 4th degree knight. Richard was a life member of the 540 Democratic Club, Tammany Democratic Club, Jefferson Democratic Club and the North End Wanders- Athletic Club. He also had memberships at the Heights Athletic Association, St. Bernard Beneficial Society and Hecktown Fire Hall.

Richard will be lovingly remembered by his sons, Richard J. Ford, Sr. and his wife, Cookie, David A. Ford and his wife, Anna, and Thomas J. Rieger and his wife, Suzanne of Hershey; daughter, Patricia A. Leiby and her husband, Butch; grandchildren, Rory and husband Tim, Richard, Jr., David, Sianne and husband Joe, Samantha, Jacob, Christine, and Thomas and wife Jackie; great grandchildren, Ahana, Joey, Mya, Kylee and Owen, and his beloved dog, Alex. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Rieger; son, Joseph Rieger and six brothers and sisters.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at Connell Funeral Home 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, PA 18018 from 6-8 PM. A calling hour will be held Friday, June 29, 2018 at St. Annes Church 450 E. Washington Ave., Bethlehem, PA 18017 from 10-11 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM. Burial will be at Holy Saviour Cemetery in Bethlehem.

Memorial contributions may be made in Richards name to Center for Animal Health and Welfare, 1165 Island Park Rd., Easton, PA 18042.

Richards family would like to thank the staff of Holy Family Manor and Richards doctors that have cared for him throughout the final stages of his life, especially Dr. Walter Okunski.
