Robert A. Farris

Robert Andrew Farris, 88, of Bethlehem, PA passed away Friday, January 4, 2019 at Country Meadows, Bethlehem, PA. He was preceded in death by his wife of over 60 years, Elaine M. (Kisslan) Farris. Born in Bethlehem, PA, he was the son of the late Andrew and Sophie (Chuchran) Farris.

Robert, a Korean War veteran, served as a sergeant. He was a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University, receiving a BS in Finance, and Central Catholic High School. He was employed by Conmec, the Bethlehem Steel Corporation, Alexander Proudfoot, and Luria Steel. He was an active member of Notre Dame Catholic Church, Bethlehem in the Cursillo movement, and Threshold and Marriage Preparation programs. He also served as a Eucharistic Minister for many years. He was an avid freshwater fisherman and gardener. He enjoyed fiction and poetry, and listening to Dixieland jazz and Sousa marches.

Survivors: He is survived by his children, daughter, Susan, wife of Russell E. Fink, of Stockton, NJ; sons, Richard of Princeton, NJ, and Robert J. and wife Gail of Sanger, TX; grandchildren, Andrew, his wife Erin and Matthew Farris; three great grandchildren, all of Sanger, TX; and his sister, Priscilla, wife of Harry Mitchell, Collegeville, PA.

Services: A viewing will be held on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 from 10-11 a.m. at Notre Dame Catholic Church, 1861 Catasauqua Rd. Bethlehem, PA 18018, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Holy Saviour Cemetery on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at 10 a.m.
