Robert A. "Bob" Sauers, 78, of North Whitehall Township, passed away Friday, December 4, 2009, with his loving wife and family by his side. Bob and his loving wife, Emilia Loncarovich Sauers were married 53 years. Bob was born in Freemansburg, PA, to the late Anthony M. Sauers and Louise Kugler Sauers of Holy Family Manor.
In 1991 Bob retired from the Homer Research Labs where he managed the heat treatment labs.
Bob was proud of having served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War where he played the clarinet in the El Toro Marine Band.
Bob was a member of Jordan-Martin Masonic Lodge, Lehigh Consistory, and Rajah Shrine. He served as secretary of the Caravaners, a Shrine camping club, and was their reporter to the Rajah News. Bob was also a member of Penn Coachmen and NCT camping clubs as well as a member of the Freemansburg American Legion.
Bob loved hunting and fishing, especially shad fishing on the Delaware River and fishing the Indian River Inlet at Delaware State Park.
Bob was of the catholic faith.
Bob will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Mother, sister-in-law, Kathleen Oberacker, nieces, Francine Ryan, Jan Chase, and Ann Bednarik-Smith; nephews, John Bednarik, Jr., and Kenneth Swoyer, Jr.; cousins, Christina Jansen, William Huk, Jr., Michael Sauers, Margaret Firestone, and David Lobo.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bob's memory may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, c/o Rajah Temple, PO Box 40, Blandon, PA 19510.
