Robert F. Svajdlenka

Robert “Dedo” Francis Svajdlenka, 86, of Bethlehem, PA, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family and showered with love on November 4, 2016.

He was born to Ignatz and Rose (Hodulik) Svajdlenka in Lansford, PA. He attended Lansford High School, where we were proud to find he got a B in cooking. In spite of being from the rivaling Coaldale, he found his true love in Ann Marie Pisko. They were wed on June 18, 1952 at St. Patricks Cathedral in New York, where they would 60 years later renew those vows of eternal love. He worked proudly and diligently for UGI for 42 years. He served our country in the United States Air Force as a veteran of the Korean War; when he tells his grandchildren he had a size 28 waist. Following discharge from the armed services and retirement from UGI, he was able to focus on the jobs he was most dedicated to - his family and winning big at the casino.

Survivors: Robert was a true family man and it was easy to see that was where his heart and dedication lie. He is survived by his wife, Ann Marie Svajdlenka; his daughters, Karen Svajdlenka (Jim Szilagyi), Christie Svajdlenka, and Jody Mitch (Mark); his grandchildren, Kelly “Angel” Golden, Kyle “Butch” Baur, Danielle “Precious” Mitch, Karissa “Princess” Mitch, and Jason “Buster” Mitch; and his great-grandchildren, Parker and Peyton Golden, and Olivia and Trevor Baur.

Robert is preceded in death by his father Ignatz, his mother Rose, his brothers Joseph and Thomas, and his only son William “Billy” who he can finally make up for lost time with.

Visitation hours will be held in the Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, on Monday, Nov. 7, from 6 to 8 p.m. and again on Tuesday, Nov. 8, from 10 to 11 a.m. An 11 a.m. funeral service will follow, in the funeral home. Burial will be at Cedar Hill Memorial Park, Allentown.
