Robert John Dougherty

Robert John Dougherty, 65, passed away on Sunday, September 25, 2011 at his home in Northampton. Born on February 24, 1946 in Jeanesville, Luzerne County, PA, he was the son of the late John and Irene Hulsizer Dougherty. He was the loving husband of Susan Folio Dougherty.

Robert worked for Bethlehem Steel for 34 years and most recently for the City of Bethlehem, retiring in December, 2010. A graduate of the Liberty High School class of 1964, he was also a veteran of the U.S Army, serving in Germany during the Vietnam War. His passions were, fishing, hunting and playing softball.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Susan; daughter, Dina Ondria, her husband Michael, and grandson, Trey of Bethlehem; son, Robert of Northampton, step-daughter, Jaime DiPane and step-grandson, Avery of Bethlehem Township; brother, John Dougherty and wife MaryAnn of Bethlehem; sisters, Bernadette Hart of Quakertown; Mary Krajcirik; Irene Dougherty and Ann Shannon, wife of Russell, all of Lansford; sister-in-law, Bernadette Dougherty of Freemansburg, many nieces and nephews and his beloved dog Jazmine, who was by his side for the past 10 months.

He was predeceased by a son, Peter and brothers, William, Eugene and Gary.

A funeral service will be held 12 PM Thursday, September, 29, 2011 at the Connell Funeral Home 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA. 18018. Calling hours will be from 6-9 PM Wednesday evening and also 11AM-12 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Holy Saviour Cemetery.
