Robert L. Johnson

Robert L. Johnson, Jr., 86, of Bethlehem, died on Tuesday, September 4, 2012. Born in Mahanoy City, he was the son of the late Robert and Gertrude (Machale) Johnson. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Hilda (Barbush) Johnson.

Robert was employed by PP&L where he worked various jobs over his 40 plus year career. He was a dedicated parishioner of Notre Dame of Bethlehem Catholic Church, where he served as a sacristan for many years. He was also a 4th degree Knight of Columbus.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Hilda; son, Robert L. III and wife, Emily; brother, Albert; sisters, Ida, Lucy, Gertrude and Jane; grandchildren, Rachel, Robert L. IV and Brandon Johnson. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lynn A. Johnson.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Connell Funeral Home, Bethlehem. A 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday September 8th in the Notre Dame Catholic Church, 1871 Catasauqua Rd. Bethlehem. A visitation will be held in the church on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Memorial Park, Allentown.

In lieu of flowers: Memorial Contributions may be made in Robert's name to The Center for Animal Health and Welfare, 1165 Island Park Rd., Easton, PA 18042.
