Robert L. Kroner

August 16, 1919 — April 20, 2016

Robert Lee Kroner of Bethlehem, PA, born August 16, 1919 was the son of the late Aaron and Celestine (Moyer) Kroner. Robert grew up in Riegelsville and graduated from Easton High School in 1937. After a year at Penn State, he joined the Army Signal Corps and shipped out to Hawaii in mid-1940. On December 7, 1941, Mr. Kroner was 22 years old when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor, where he was stationed. In 2012, The Morning Call featured an interview with Mr. Kroner about his experiences on Pearl Harbor. On September 12, 1943, he married Geraldine Conner of Reading. After his military service, Mr. Kroner became a bank executive in Michigan, Sea Isle City NJ, and Cape May NJ. He is past president of the Sea Isle City Rotary Club in NJ, and was a member of the Cape May NJ Rotary Club and the Bethlehem Rotary Club. Robert was an accomplished gardener and traveled extensively as an avid game hunter and member of Safari Club International.

Survivors: wife Geraldine Kroner, son Barry Kroner (Marilyn), and sister Anna Askman. He was preceded in death by his sister Anita Griffaton.

Services: A viewing will be held on Monday, April 25, 2016 Connell Funeral Home, Inc., 245 E. Broad Street, Bethlehem, PA 18018 from 10-11 a.m. followed by a service at 11 a.m. Burial will take place at Bethlehem Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions will be made in Roberts name to Animals In Distress, P.O. Box 609, 5075 Limeport Pike, Coopersburg, PA 18036.
