Roberta M. “Bobbie” Van Vliet, of Center Valley, died on Saturday, May 17, 2014, just two days after her 80th birthday. She was born in Bethlehem, daughter of the late Robert and Rose Alcorn. She was the loving wife to James C. Van Vliet, they were married 24 years.
Bobbie worked as a receptionist and administrative assistant for both the Bethlehem Steel and later APD Cryogenics. She had a passion for dogs, loved to cook, enjoyed dancing, going to the theatre and reading mystery novels; above all she was dedicated to her family. She was a member of the Church of the Assumption, B.V.M. in Colesville.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, James; sister, Holly Hnat; step-daughters, Jayne Davilli and Julie Van Vliet; nephew, Robert Hnat; step-grandchildren, Katie, Christopher, Kelly and Michael. She was predeceased by her step-son, Thomas Van Vliet and niece, Tiffany Hnat.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday May 20th from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem. An 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at the Church of the Assumption, B.V.M., 4101 Old Bethlehem Pike, Bethlehem, PA 18015. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the churchs Health Care Endowment Fund or the Southern Lehigh Public Library, 3200 Preston Ln, Center Valley, PA 18034.
