Ronald John Fradeneck, Bethlehem, passed away peacefully 82 years young May 20, 2017, in the presence of his family after a brief illness.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, and known for his kindness and thoughtful disposition. Supportive and quick to lend a hand to anyone in need, he made sure those who were in his life knew how much he loved and appreciated them. Ron lived a full and happy life, both personally and professionally, and will be missed by those blessed to have known him.
Ron is survived by Patricia (Bilsak), his loving wife and partner of 61 years. Together they raised five children: Judith Shields (Kevin), Jane Sands (Frank), Ronald S. (Sara), David J. (Judith) and Timothy J. (Jennifer). He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Ron was an avid golfer, and the fish feared him. He was a skilled tinkerer and passionate about learning new skills. He was a lifetime member of Saint Anne Catholic Church, Bethlehem, and a longtime executive of the Lehigh Southside Boosters Club. He participated in many activities for both organizations. Saturdays in the fall, he tailgated with the boosters, while Sunday mornings year-round, he greeted parishioners. Every summer, Ron enjoyed family trips to the beach and fishing in Canada.
Following service in the United States Army, he led a successful professional career, starting in 1953, and held engineering and technical management positions with Bethlehem Steel Corporation at Homer Research Laboratory. He held five patents that he authored or co-authored, which improved the production and quality of finished steel products. He also received various national awards from the American Iron and Steel Institute and the American Institute of Metallurgical Engineering.
