Ronald T. Unger

Ronald T. Unger, 74, of Bethlehem, died on February 4, 2024, after a six-year battle with cancer. Ronald was born April 5, 1949, in Bethlehem, the son of the late Ludwig A. and Helen (Kuseryk) Unger. He is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Kandy Ellen Unger. Ron will be lovingly remembered as a good man, with a strong sense of independence, responsibility, and concern. He always cared about doing the right thing and did not tolerate unethical approaches. His many interests were varied, and he did everything with fervor. Ron enjoyed being a pilot, playing the guitar, sailing, reading, and technology. He had a passion for experiencing new and exciting activities.

Ron worked in the banking industry for many years before he began his role at ArtsQuest, where he found great happiness and satisfaction working on the SteelStacks redevelopment project. There, he was able to utilize his finance skills and impeccable attention to detail to make a tangible impact on the community where he lived his entire life. He made friends easily and built a community around him wherever he went. He was a positive creature of habit. He would find places and people he shared things with, and it would be his community — Godfrey Daniels, The Depot, The Roadhouse. He loved the community he built around him.

Ron will be dearly missed by his wife, Kandy, sisters, Patricia Mueller and Carolyn Goodman and husband, Charles, brother, Thomas J. Unger, nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends. Ron was predeceased by his brother-in-law, William Mueller.

A visitation will be held on Monday, February 12, 2024, from 9:30-10:45 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 3219 Santee Rd., Bethlehem, PA 18020, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be held at Holy Saviour Cemetery.
