Rose E. Hunter

October 5, 1914 — May 13, 2008

Rose E. Hunter, a lifelong resident of Bethlehem, died at home on Tuesday. She grew up on E. Third street on the South Side where her late father George Soltis operated a corner store and the M&M meat market as a joint venture with his brother uncle Steve "Stryko" Soltis. As eldest daughter of a clan with eight children, she was indispensable to her parents in the care of the home and siblings. After graduating Bethlehem Catholic High School, she earned her RN degree from Sacred Heart Hospital. Rose enjoyed home making, baking, gardening, birds, and she had a keen interest in keeping tabs on family.

She is survived by her loving son Michael Hunter of Bethlehem, sisters Marie Fisher of Fort Lauderdale, Teresa Maus of Bethlehem, and 22 nieces and nephews including: Mary Anne Soltis, Sr. Loretta Soltis, Bernadette Soltis, Gina Soltis, Grace Soltis, John Soltis, Marita Soltis, Lorrie Maus, Louis Maus, Mark Maus, Georgette Soltis, Gregory Soltis, Gloria Soltis, George Soltis, Joan Ann Soltis, Suzanne Soltis, Stephanie Soltis, Timothy Soltis, Kurt Konolige, Kit Konolige, Peter Konolige, and Monica Soltis.

Rose was predeceased by her devoted husband Michael P. Hunter, who taught at Northeast Junior High, her mother Anna Shigo Soltis, brothers John G Soltis, Steven Soltis, Cyril Soltis, George Soltis, and her sister Anna Konolige.
