Rose M. Merlo

Rose M. Merlo, 100, of Bethlehem, died Sunday, August 13, 2023 at VNA Hospice House of St. Luke’s, Lower Saucon Twp. One of thirteen children, she was born in Bethlehem on December 14, 1922 to the late Nicholas and Rosa Maria (Casara) Ummarino. She worked as a counter clerk for the New York Italian Bakery, Phillipsburg, NJ for many years. Rose was a member of Saints Simon & Jude Church, Bethlehem. She volunteered as a Library Aide at the Wilson Area High School, Easton.

Survivors: daughter: Donna M. Renner of Bethlehem; grandson: Shaun Renner; great grandchildren: Kira & Corbin; numerous nieces & nephews. Predeceased by her son: Ronald Culpepper; siblings: Joseph, Jimmy, Louis, Nicholas, Peter, Carlo, Andrew, Domenick, Angeline Cope, Josephine Petrucella, Louise Rose Slobekowsky, Antoniette Curatola.

Service: Family and friends are invited to call 10-11am Thursday, August 17, 2023 at Saints Simon & Jude Church, 730 West Broad Street-Bethlehem followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am. The interment will conclude services at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem. Online condolences may be offered at connellfuneral.com.
