Rosemary J. Vassa , 59, of Bethlehem, passed away Thursday September 29, 2011 in Bethlehem after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of Keith M. Vassa. They were married on 11/26/1977, almost 34 years ago. Born in Fountain Hill she was the daughter of the late Walter and Rose Sweeney Medve.

Rosemary was a dedicated wife, mother and homemaker. She was a member of Notre Dame of Bethlehem Catholic Church and a graduate of Bethlehem Catholic High School class of 1970. She loved classical music, gardening and animals, especially her dogs. She was passionate about her Irish heritage and a proud member of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians.

She will be greatly missed by her husband, Keith, son Timothy , daughter Heather Newell and her husband Kevin and daughter Bonnie all of Bethlehem, brothers Walter P. Medve, Jr. of Bethlehem, Peter J. Medve and his wife Connie of Lower Nazareth, Michael Medve and his wife Marie of Wilmington, DE and her sister Elizabeth, wife of Richard Christ of New Tripoli. She will also be remembered by grandchildren Vanessa, Devin and Brooklyn. Along with her parents she was predeceased by a son Patrick and a sister Sarah.

Funeral services have been entrusted to Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem where a visitation will be held from 7PM - 9PM on Friday, Oct.7, 2011. Services will begin with prayers at the funeral home on Saturday, Oct. 8 at 9:00AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM at Notre Dame Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Holy Saviour Cemetery.
