Rudolph Fondl, 82, of Bethlehem died on Thursday July 7, 2011 at St. Luke's Hospital in Fountain Hill. He was born on October 25, 1928 in Egypt, Pa. son of the late Robert and Johanna Stranzl Fondl. He was the husband of Lorraine R. McFadden Fondl. They celebrated 58 years of marriage in August of last year.
Rudy was a telephone systems installer for Bell Telephone Co. for 35 years and also for Lehigh University for 7 years. He was a member of Notre Dame Catholic Church. Rudy was a veteran of WWII serving in the US Marines, 2nd division. He was a member of St. Bernard's, and also coached Northwest Little League. He loved to attend his children's, and grandchildren's baseball games. Rudy was also an avid traveler who visited 45 states and 40 countries over his lifetime.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, sons, Mark Fondl and wife Suzanne of Haverhill, Mass., and Gary Fondl and wife Cathy of Frisco, Co., daughters, Karen Benway, and Christine Serman both of Bethlehem, brother Paul Fondl, and sister Rosemarie John both of Bethlehem, 10 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by sons, Brian Fondl, and Jeffrey Fondl, and a brother, Robert Fondl
Services will be held 9:15am Thursday July 14, 2011 at the Connell Funeral Home 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, Pa. 18018 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 10am at Notre Dame Catholic Church 1861 Catasauqua Rd. Bethlehem, Pa. 18018. A viewing will be held from 7-9PM Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Burial will be at Holy Saviour Cemetery.
