Rudolph Louis Rayner

Rudolph Louis Rayner, Valley Manor, Coopersburg, PA, and a long-time resident of Upper Saucon Township died Nov 10, 2010.

Born Jan 5 1920, Mr. Rayner was the son of the late Fani Csaszar Rainer and Stephen Istvan Rainer. His late sister was Mrs. John Christine Wiczena. He was married to the late Helen Marie Zsilavec Rayner for 54 years. He is survived by several nieces and a nephew and their children. They are Mrs. John Rosemarie A. Wiczena Kaniuk, Linda Kurteson, Mrs. James Victoria Kurteson Seidenberger, and George Kurteson.

Mr. Rayner graduated from Liberty High School and attended the Allentown Campus of Pennsylvania State University. He served in the US Navy as a Aviation Ordnanceman, 1st Class, Carrier Aircraft Service Unit in the Pacific Theater during Work War II 1943-1946.

He owned the Linden Hotel in Allentown, PA for 28 years. He was a member of the Lehigh County Tavern Association and served as President, Vice President, and Secretary, and had been a Pennsylvania Delegate to the National Licensed Beverage Association.

Mr. Rayner was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Bethehem, PA, where he had been a Eucharistic minister and a member of the Holy Name Society. He also was a member and Director of the First Windish Fraternal Benefit Society of America and a member of the Murska Sobota Sister Cities Association.

He and his wife were long-time breeders of cocker spaniel show dogs under the Saucon Valley prefix. They had 34 champions. Mr. Rayner was a life member of the American Spaniel Club and was active as a fund raiser for the Keystone Cocker Spaniel Club. He also was a long-term member of the Penn Ridge Kennel Club and served as Treasurer and on the Board of Directors.

Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held, Monday, November 15, 2010 at 11 a.m. at St. Theresa of the Child Jesus, 1408 Easton Ave. Hellertown, PA 18055. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m.-10:15 a.m. at Connell Funeral Home, Inc. 245 East Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018.
