Russell “Skip” Fegely, 88, of Bethlehem, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2024, at Milford Regional Hospital in Milford, MA.
Skip was born April 7, 1935 in Reading, PA, the only child of the late Russell and Violet Fegely (Marks). He graduated from Reading High School in 1953 and earned an athletic scholarship to Moravian College (now Moravian University) for basketball and baseball, graduating in 1957 with a degree in Business Administration. He was inducted into the Moravian University Hall of Fame in 1987, as he was one of Moravian's ten 1,000-point scorers in basketball.
He married Shirley Corbett of Pottstown, PA in 1957. They moved to Pensacola, FL and then Oahu, HI while Skip served in the U.S. Navy. In 1962 they moved back to Reading, PA where he began a career at the Travelers Insurance Company. After transferring to the Travelers’ home office in Hartford, CT for three years, he acquired a position at the Woodring-Roberts Insurance Agency in Bethlehem, PA in 1972, where he eventually became co-owner. He retired in 1997.
Skip was an avid golfer who also enjoyed travel, music, dining, entertaining, maintaining a beautiful backyard, and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Shirley, his daughter Lori Hill (Ken) of Milford, MA, his son Stuart of Ithaca, NY, and four grandchildren, Jenny Hill, Amy Taylor (Joe), Patrick Fegely, and Laura Fegely.
A Celebration of Life luncheon to honor the memory of Skip Fegely will be held on Friday, February 23, 2024 from 1-3 p.m. at Saucon Valley Country Club- Weyhill Guest House, 5450 Weyhill Farm Road Bethlehem, PA
