Ruth A. Appel, 93, passed away on March 8, 2022 with her family by her side. She was born February 8, 1929 in Ardmore, PA; daughter of the late Edward and Ruth (Standen) Gorman. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Kermit C. Appel, Sr.
Ruth will be lovingly remembered for her kindness, positive attitude, and selflessness. But above all she will be remembered for the love she provided to her family; she loved nothing more than to be with all of them. Ruth was loved by those she met, and she never spoke negatively about anyone. She enjoyed a good Manhattan, playing card games and Words With Friends, as well as watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. Ruth was very social and a great listener.
.
Ruth was a graduate of Liberty High School and continued her education at business school. Although Ruth loved her positions as a baker and a waitress, she dedicated her life to her family. She was an incredible mother, and she was a devoted caretaker for her mother and later her husband.
She will be dearly missed by her daughters, Kandi Regan (Patrick), Karen Del Vecchio, and Kim White (Ted); son, Kermit C. Appel, Jr. (Brenda Holt); brother, James Gorman, Sr. (Janice); grandchildren, twins: Allyse Nehoda (Matthew), and Ashley Regan (Eric Shapiro), Kelly Godshall, Tara Del Vecchio (Jason Quarry), Dirk White (Emilee Coleman), Liam White, Kermit Appel, III, and Morgan Appel; as well as her great grandchildren, twins: Sofia and Maximus Quarry, and Jacob and Cassidy Godshall. Ruth was predeceased by her brothers, Edward and William.
The family will receive guests on Monday, March 14, 2022 from 5-6:45 p.m. with a ceremony to follow at 6:45 p.m. at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018. Dark attire is not necessary as this is a celebration of Ruths Bright Spirit! The burial will be private.
