Salvadore Louis "Sal" Romanell, 80, of Bethlehem Twp., died Thursday, May 17, 2007 in his home. He was born in Tresckow, PA; the son of the late Carmella and Joseph A. Romanell. He was the loving husband of
Florence Solon Romanell. They celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary last September.
He worked for the U.S. Postal Service for many years before retiring in 1984. He was a veteran of WWII and served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society. He was also an active Eucharistic Minister. He was involved in the MORA Club of Bethlehem and volunteered to teach bowling to physically challenged adults. Sal was also an avid baseball fan
who tried out for the Brooklyn Dodgers Minor League.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Florence, sons, Philip and Joseph Romanelli, daughters, Sally Ann, wife of Charles Kerchner, Janice, wife of Rocco DelVecchio, Michelle, wife of Harold Beardsley, brothers, Michael, Lou and Joseph sisters, Rose Billett, Carey Romanell and Mildred Domin and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Carmen, Maurice, Michael, I, and Charles,
and sisters, Teresa Tarantino, Marie Romanell and Christine Black.
Services: A Funeral Service will be held, Monday, May 21, 2007 at 9:30 a.m. at Connell Funeral Home, Inc. 245 East Broad St. Bethlehem, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1817 First St. Bethlehem, PA 18020.
Visitation will be Sunday, May 20, 2007 from 6-8 p.m. and Monday from 8:30 a.m.
to 9:30 a.m. both in the funeral home. Burial will be at Holy Saviour Cemetery, in Bethlehem.
