Sam J. Spagnola

Sam J. Spagnola, 89, of Bethlehem, PA passed away Monday, February 23, 2015 at Holy Family Manor in Bethlehem. Born October 18, 1925 in Bangor, PA he was the son of the late Constance (Callie) and Lorenzo Spagnola. He was a loving husband to Katherine (Viglione) Spagnola for 61 years. He proudly served his country as a Broadcast Operator in the US Navy during World War II. After the war, Sam attended Moravian College on the G.I. Bill, and then went on to work as a sales manager for Prudential Life Insurance for over 50 years. Sam served in the Knights of Columbus, Notre Dame Catholic Church in Bethlehem and was an active member of the Stafore Estates Golf Group. He was a trained barber who volunteered cutting hair at the Cooperstown Orphanage and local hospitals. Sam enjoyed his duties as an assistant Scout Master in Bethlehem for Troop 52 and his afternoons swimming and lively discussions at the YMCA. But Sams most favorite pastime was relaxing with his family and golfing with his two sons, Larry and John, and brother-in-law, Tony DeNadai.

Sam will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Katherine, sons, Lawrence Spagnola of Hollywood, CA, John Spagnola and wife Kathleen of Bryn Mawr, PA. He will be forever cherished by his three granddaughters, Nicole, Megan, and Kelly. Sam was preceded in death by his brothers, Dominic and Carmen Spagnola and sisters, Vincene Monaco, Mary Donatelli, and Anna Rosato.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, February 28th, 2015, at Notre Dame Church, 1861 Catasaqua Road, Bethlehem PA 18018, with a Calling from 10:00 - 11:00 AM, and a Mass at 11:00 AM.
