Samson P. Verret

Samson P. Verret, Jr., 82, of Bethlehem, died on Thursday, May 13, 2010 at Gracedale Nursing Home.

He was born July 17, 1927 in Raceland, LA the son of the late Samson and Anne Chauvin Verret.

Samson is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Anne M. Kelly Verret.

A Vietnam Veteran, he proudly served his country in the United States Marines Corps from 1946-1967, retiring as a Gunnery Sergeant.

Samson later worked as an Attendance Officer for the Bethlehem Area School District for 21 years before retiring in 1988.

He will be remembered by his family, wife Anne; daughters, Margaret Youse of Chicago, IL and Eileen Kelly as well as his sons, John F. Verret of Allentown; Paul J. Verret of Northampton and Thomas A. Verret of Schenectady, NY. Samson is also survived by his sister Estelle Hymel of Harvey LA, his 12 grandchildren, four great grandchildren and a great grandson to be born in October.

Samson was also preceded in death by his sisters Esther Bauman, Mary Ann Ciaccio, Sarah Louviere and Ruth Owens and his brother Richard P. Verret.

He was a parishioner of St. Anne's Catholic Church, Bethlehem where he was a member of the Holy Name Society.

Samson was also a member of the American Legion Hellertown Post 397, Marine Corps League, N. E. Wanderers and Disabled American Veterans.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Connell Funeral Home, Bethlehem.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Anne's Catholic Church 450 Washington Ave. Bethlehem PA 18017 on Monday, May 17, 2010 at 10AM

Burial with military honors will be held at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Gracedale Volunteer Dept. Gracedale Ave. Nazareth PA 18064
