Santos V. Martinez

Santos V. Martinez, 78, passed away on November 20, 2021. He was born on

April 21, 1943 in Humacao, Puerto Rico to parents Erasmo and Constancia Vellon Martinez. Santos is survived by his wife, Iris (Gonzalez) Martinez.

He worked for American Olean prior to his time with ABM Industries where he performed janitorial services at Lehigh University. He was a parishioner of Holy Infancy Catholic Church and a member of the Cursillista and Santo Nombre. Santos was a talented cook, who had a passion for cooking at the church bazaars and other events. Many friends were the beneficiaries of his delicious food. Santos was a member of the Puerto Rican Beneficial Society. He was very light on his feet and loved to dance. Santos also enjoyed deep sea fishing. Baseball was a very important part of his life. Santos played travel baseball for

the Lehigh Valley over 50 years old league. He idolized Roberto Clemente and found great joy watching games. He was a former president of the Hispanic Softball League which played on Saturdays at Saucon Park.

He will be dearly missed by his spouse, Iris; children, Rochely Martinez, Noel Martinez, Awilda Martinez, Iris F. Martinez, and Iliza Martinez- Mondshein; siblings, Nemencio Vellon Martinez, Eugenia Vellon Martinez, Eugenio Vellon Martinez, Ruperta Vellon Martinez, and Nestor Vellin Martinez; as well as his grandchildren, Santos Martinez, Zayda Galarza, Justin Martinez, Rochely Marie Sierra Martinez, Edwin Sanchez Martinez, Michael Sanchez Martinez, Krisia Sanchez Martinez and 3 great grandchildren.

Santos was preceded in death by his grandson, Andres Rosario Martinez and

siblings, Felicita Vellon Martinez, Hector Luis Vellon Martinez, and Nicolas Vellon Martinez.

A visitation will be held on Friday, November 26, 2021 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at The Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18015. Another visitation will be held on Saturday from 8:45-9:45 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Infancy Catholic Church, 312 E. 4th St. Bethlehem, PA 18015. Entombment will follow at Holy Saviour Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
