Sara A. Alonzo, 84, of Bethlehem, died Tuesday February 6, 2007 at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg. Born, August 28, 1922, in Sulphur, Louisiana; she was the daughter of the late Rudolph and Julia Aguilar Amelio. She was the wife of the late Anthony Alonzo.
Sara was employed by the former Western Electric for 30 years before retiring in 1981. She was a member of Ss. Simon and Jude Catholic Church, Bethlehem. She was also a member of the Pioneers Club.
She will be lovingly remembered by: daughter, Ellie McHale of Bethlehem with whom she resided, brother, Robert R. Amelio, Sr. and his wife Phyllis of Hellertown, sisters, Julia A. Kuruc, Aurora A. Kundrik, Elvira Mingora, and Angela V. Stralo and her husband Rollin, all of Bethlehem, grandson, Michael Wunderly and his wife Lillian of Macungie, and great-grandson, Mark.
She was preceded in death by son, Anthony, Jr., brothers, Rudolph and Arthur and, sister, Sophie Gutierrez.
Services: 10:30 a.m. on Saturday February 10th at the Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St; Bethlehem. An 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Saturday at Ss. Simon and Jude Catholic Church, 730 W. Broad St; Bethlehem, PA 18018. Calling hours will be held in the funeral home on Friday February 9th from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be at Holy Saviour Cemetery of Bethlehem.
