Sherry Lee Hancik

Sherry Lee Hancik, 65, of Bethlehem, PA died Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg in Bethlehem, PA. Born April 2, 1948 in Bay City, Michigan she was the daughter of the late Shirley (LaPan) and Dexter Taylor. She was married to Robert Hancik with whom she celebrated 27 years of marriage until his passing on March 9, 2012.

Sherry Lee worked as a tutor at Northampton Community College. She was a graduate of Mercy College in Detroit and also received a Masters Degree from Western Michigan University. She was very active with Lehigh Valley Chapter for the Pennsylvania Council for the Blind, serving as a past president. She was an active member of the Lions Club. Sherry was an avid reader and together with her husband would host Old Time Radio Shows at Northampton Community College and from their home. She also loved her leader dogs for the blind.

Sherry is survived by her sisters, Linda wife of Gary Maday and Kathy wife of Joel Luethjohann, brothers, William Taylor and wife Carol and Robert Taylor and wife Kathy all whom reside in Michigan and a close personal friend, Nancy Hudson and her late husband Russ.

A gathering will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Connell Funeral Home 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, PA 18018 from 10-11 AM followed by a service at 11 AM. Burial will be at Holy Saviour Cemetery, in Bethlehem.

Memorial contributions may be made in Sherrys name to Lehigh Valley Council of the Blind 1944 Girard Ave. Allentown, PA 18104.
