Shirley A. Shive

Shirley A. Shive, 87, of Bethlehem, PA passed away peacefully on December 28, 2021 at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg. She had a loving marriage of 43 years with John (Jack) J. Shive, Sr. who passed away in 1997. She was a devoted and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister whose favorite times were spent with family. She was always very proud, supportive and interested in everything they were doing. She enjoyed holiday and family gatherings, attending and rooting for her grandchildren in their sports activities, going on family vacations to the beach, and was a huge Neil Diamond fan. Shirley was tireless in everything she did. She graduated from Bethlehem Catholic High School in 1952, and worked for many years at Hess's Department Store in Allentown, PA, Carter's Children Store in Murfreesboro TN, Bethlehem Steel, EDS, Hallmark Store, and Early American Candle Shop.

Survivors: Five children: sons, Jack Shive, Jr. (Jane Castro) of Bethlehem and Mike (Sharon) of Lansdale, PA, daughters, Debra Yeager (Ralph) of Nazareth, PA, Susan Shive (Irvie) of Murfreesboro TN, and Diane Schmitt (Tom) of The Villages, FL; Eight grandchildren: Kimberly Dos Santos (Christopher), Eric Yeager (Meghan) Bryan Shive (Kelly) Mark Shive (Nicole), Benjamin Schmitt (Carrie), Rachel Schmitt, Matthew Shive and Jack Shive; 7 great-grandchildren; Siblings: Dorothy Leiderman, Bernadette Lagana, Patricia Steager, and Fred Kelhart. She was preceded in death by her mother, Anna Zimmerman, and brother, Richard Kelhart.

We would like to thank all the aides, nurses, doctors, and friends of her recent living facilities at Atria of Bethlehem, Fellowship Community in Whitehall and St. Lukes Anderson and Lehigh Valley - Muhlenberg Hospitals. They made her final years comfortable and peaceful.

A viewing will be held on Friday, December 31, 2021 at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, PA 18018 from 9-10:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 3219 Santee Rd., Bethlehem, PA 18020 at 11 a.m. Burial will be on Tuesday, January 4, 2021 at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem at 11 a.m.
