Sister M. Damian (Theresa) Baloga, O.S.F.

Sister M. Damian, 92, a member of the School Sisters of St. Francis, United States Province, in her 69th year of Religious Profession, died on December 12, 2016, in Lehigh Valley Muhlenberg Hospital, Bethlehem PA.

Sister entered the community from Sacred Heart Parish, Wilkes-Barre, PA in 1945 and professed her first vows in 1947 at Mount Assisi Convent Chapel in Pittsburgh, PA. She earned a B.S. in Elementary Education at Mount Mercy College (Carlow University) in Pittsburgh, PA.

Sister Damian taught the elementary grades in various schools in Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, and New Jersey. She also spent time tutoring students in New Milford, NJ and Closter, NJ as well as in SS. Cyril and Methodius in Bethlehem, PA. Upon retiring from teaching, she enjoyed tutoring and working in after care programs. Her last years were spent at Villa Clare, Monocacy Manor as a faithful participant in the prayer ministry.

Sister Damian was preceded in death by her parents, Stephen and Veronica (Filo) Baloga, and her eight siblings: Cyril, Joseph, John, Stephen, Father Damian, Thomas, Cecelia and Anna. She is survived by her religious community, her niece, Rita McCall and great nieces and nephews.

Visitation Hours are from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, December 14,2016 and on Thursday, December 15, 2016 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Monocacy Manor, Bethlehem, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 11 a.m. in Immaculate Heart of Mary Chapel, Monocacy Manor on Thursday. Arrangements have been made by Connell Funeral Home, Bethlehem, PA.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the School Sisters of St. Francis Retirement Fund, 395 Bridle Path Road, Bethlehem, PA. 18017.
