Sister M. Rene Parent, Osf

Sister M. Rene (Doris) Parent, of the School Sisters of St. Francis United States Province, in her 55th year of Religious Profession, died on September 30, 2018, at St. Francis Convent in Bethlehem, PA. She was 75.

Sister entered from Sacred Heart Parish in Springfield, MA, and professed first vows in 1963 at St. Francis Convent in Bethlehem, PA. She earned a bachelors degree in elementary education from Holy Family College in Philadelphia, PA.

Sister taught at various elementary schools in New Jersey and Pennsylvania and ministered at St. Francis Center for Renewal in Bethlehem, PA, for 29 years. This past year Sister Rene was committed to prayer ministry and community service, as her health permitted.

Sister Rene was preceded in death by her parents, Raoul and Rita (Lescarbeau) Parent; her sister, Pauline; and her stepmother, Lillian Moreau. She is survived by her brother, Arthur Michael, her sisters, Marcelle Boulanger and Lucille Cecilia Guilmette, several nieces and nephews, and her religious community.

Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 and again from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 4, 2018 in Immaculate Heart of Mary Chapel at Monocacy Manor, 395 Bridle Path Road, Bethlehem, PA 18017. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 4, 2018 also at Monocacy Manor. Inurnment will follow at the Mother House Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Connell Funeral Home in Bethlehem, PA.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to School Sisters of St. Francis, 395 Bridle Path Road, Bethlehem, PA 18017.
