Stanley R. Zweifel

March 14, 1928 — January 17, 2015

Stanley R. Zweifel, 86, of Bethlehem passed away Saturday, January 17, 2015 in his home with his family by his side. Born March 14, 1928 he was the son of the late Esther (Henry) and Raymond C. Zweifel. He was married to Jean (Zamadics) Zweifel with whom he would have celebrated 28 years of marriage this coming May 1st. He was predeceased by his first wife Irene J. (Holva) Zweifel who passed away on August 2, 1986.

Stanley served his community as a Bethlehem Police Officer for 28 years and lead the department as Commissioner from 1978-1981. Upon retirement he took on another career as office manager for Adam Meyer Inc, for 29 years. He proudly served his country in the United States Army as a Sgt. Major during the Korean War. Stanley was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and was a loyal parishioner of St. Annes Catholic Church in Bethlehem.

Stanley was an avid fisherman who loved his Canadian fishing trips with his buddies. He was a devoted family man who cherished every moment he had with his family. He especially enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren at their athletic events and all other activities.

Stanley will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Jean Zweifel, son, Robert Zweifel and wife Diane of Tannersville, daughters, Debra Miller of Bethlehem, Kathleen Shaffer and husband Clayton “Bud” of Hellertown, Karen Guman and husband Michael of Allentown, Marianne Rodenbach and husband Brian of Bethlehem, grandchildren, Kristie Farkas, Rachel Rine and husband Tony, Brian Farkas and wife Amber, Marisa Lawrence and husband Ron, Andrew Guman and wife Alexa, Emily Brucker and husband Ben, Heather Fosburg and husband Robert, Joan Troutman and husband Tyler, Kelly Rodenbach , Rebecca Guman and Abigail Guman, step grandchildren, Matthew and Bradley Shaffer and great grandchildren, Gabrielle Rine, Jonah Lawrence, Lilly Farkas, Allie Rine, Landon Farkas and Lucas Troutman. He was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth R. Zweifel and sister, Anna Marie Harvey.

Viewing hours will be held in the Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, on Monday, January 19, 2015 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and again on Tuesday from 8:15 to 9:15 a.m. A 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Annes Catholic Church, 450 Washington Ave., Bethlehem. Burial will be at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem.

Memorial contributions may be made in Stanleys name to St. Lukes Hospice 1510 Valley Center Parkway, Bethlehem, PA 18017 or to the Literacy Center 801 Hamilton St. #201, Allentown, PA 18101.
