Stephen J. Bedics, 85, of Bethlehem passed away Monday January 26, 2009 at his residence. He was born on October 14, 1923 in Bethlehem son of the late Michael and Frances Anderko Bedics. He was the husband of the late Ann Erkinger Bedics.

Stephen worked for Bethlehem Steel Co. in the open hearth and blast oxygen furnace for 41 years before retiring in 1986. He was a member of the local United Steel Workers Union. He was a member of Notre Dame Catholic Church for 52 years. Stephen served his country in the US Army, Co.B, 247th engineer battalion during WW II in the European Theater.

Stephen was devoted to his family and willing to help others. He was a hard worker with a good sense of humor and also easy to talk to.

He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Kathy A. Bedics of Bethlehem, grandson, Dr. Jamie Bedics of Seattle, Washington, brothers, John Bedics and Michael Bedics both of Bethlehem, sisters, Frances Cassidy of Louisville, KY, and, Margaret Luenis of Redding, Conn.

He was predeceased by brothers, Bela, and Frank and sisters, Ann Mangum, and Helen Rowe.

Services will be held 9:45AM Friday January 30, 2009 at the Connell Funeral Home 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, Pa. 18018 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 10:30Am at Notre Dame Catholic Church 1861 Catasauqua Rd. Bethlehem, Pa. 18018. Visitation hours 7-9PM Thursday evening in the funeral home.
