Steve Sherbechuk

Steve Sherbechuk, 99, of Bethlehem, and formerly of Cleveland, Ohio, died Monday November 9, 2010 at Gracedale Nursing Home. Born in the Ukraine on October 23, 1911, he was the son of the late Feodor and Evdokia Pashkovska Scherbijczuk. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Anna Kowal Sherbechuk, who died in 2004.

Steve was the owner and operator of Steve's Barber Shop of Cleveland, OH. He was in business for over 50 years and retired in 1990. He was a former member of St. Vladimir's Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral, Cleveland, where he was elected man of the year, and a member of St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church, Bethlehem.

He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Sonja van den Heuvel and husband Jaap of Bethlehem, and son, Raymond S. Sherbechuk and wife Susan of Denver, CO; grandchildren, Vanessa Yang and husband Mike, Robert van den Heuvel and companion Linda, Natalie van den Heuvel, and Bill Byrne; and three great-grandchildren.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Connell Funeral Home, Bethlehem. A viewing will be held on Friday November 12th from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church, 980 Bridle Path Rd. Bethlehem 18017. A funeral service will follow beginning at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Union Cemetery of Hellertown.
