Stewart Raymond Hall, 92, of Madisonville, TN formerly of East Stroudsburg, PA went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville, TN. Born January 30, 1919, in Bethlehem, PA, he was the son of the late Francis and Dolores Heller Hall.
He was married to Grace Laura Overdorf Hall on November 3, 1945, with whom he celebrated 65 years of marriage this past November. They spent forty years of their married life in East Stroudsburg, where they raised four children. After retiring, they traveled the USA in their motorhome completing their desire to visit all 50 states. They joined MAPPS, a Christian missionary organization, and while traveling gave their time and services to those in need. They finally settled in the beautiful mountains of Tennessee. Stewart has now traveled on his final journey and has been welcomed home by his Lord and Savior.
Stewart was Postmaster for the U.S. Postal Service in East Stroudsburg, PA until his retirement in 1985. During that time he was an active member of 1st Baptist Church in East Stroudsburg. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in both the African and European Theaters.
Stewart will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Grace; son Stewart Chip, Jr. and his wife Janis of Muskegon, MI; daughter Debra Keeble and her husband Robert of Loudon, TN; son Theodore and his wife Heather of Berlin, CT; and daughter Rebecca Anderson of Pensacola, FL. He is also survived by two sisters Mary Bebe Steidinger of Bethlehem, PA and Catherine Platia of Bath, PA. He was preceded in death by sisters Esther and Amy, and brothers Francis and Wesley.
He will also be fondly remembered by his 11 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter.
A viewing will be held from 7-8:30 PM, Sunday May 1, 2011 at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, PA 18018.
A viewing will also be held from 10-10:45 AM on Monday, May 2, 2011 at First Baptist Church, 3235 Linden St., Bethlehem, PA 18017 with a funeral service to follow in the church at 11 AM.
Burial will be at Bethlehem Memorial Park Cemetery.
