Susan M. Allen, (Mrs. Robert W.) 71, of Venice, FL and Center Valley, PA was called home on January 29, 2016. Sue was born in Little Rock, AR, to David P. Mertz and Nancy L. Mertz. She was raised in the Philadelphia, PA area, graduating from Abington Friends School, Jenkintown, PA and Keuka College, Keuka Park, NY, with a BS in Nursing. Sue spent summers at Coxton Lake, Thompson, PA where she grew up with and married the boy next door, Bob Allen. The couple enjoyed this special lake with family and friends, first in their parents' summer homes and later in their own residence with their two sons. Sue and Bob would have celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary in July. Sue was a Public Health Nurse in Monroe County, New York and Lackawanna County, PA for several years after college. She was very active in her children's schools, a member of Junior League, member of the Board of Directors of the Binghamton Symphony Orchestra and participated in Masters swimming at Binghamton University. Other interests and pass-times included bridge, golf, tennis, snow and water skiing and travel education trips to Africa, Asia, Europe, South America, and the United States. In later years she became an avid golfer. She enjoyed the competition and especially the friendships made in groups at Saucon Valley Country Club, Bethlehem, PA and Waterford Golf Club, Venice, FL. Friends will remember her quick-witted sense of humor, her love of competition, spirited good sportsmanship, her kindness, loyalty and authenticity. Sue was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.

Susan is predeceased by her father, David P. Mertz. She is survived by her husband Robert W. Allen; mother, Nancy L. Mertz of Venice, FL; sisters, Marcia Bickmore (Jeff) of Venice, FL, and Randy Navarro of Villanova, PA; sons Robert W. Allen Jr. of Coopersburg, PA, and David L.
