T. Sheila Bast

T. Sheila Bast of Bethlehem Township died Tuesday April 28th in St. Luke's Hospital, Bethlehem, Pa. Sheila is the wife of Bernard J. Bast and celebrated their 43rd Anniversary this past October.

Born in Kelayres, Schuykill County Pa., she is the daughter of Columbine Perfetta Orlando of Kelayres and the late John Orlando.

After graduating from McAdoo High School in 1957, she entered and graduated from Ashland State General Hospital earning her RN in 1962. She continued her education at Wilkes College. Sheila was a member of the American Nurses Association and the National League of Nursing. She was employed at Holy Family Villa, Bethlehem, as a Nurse Supervisor for many years retiring in 2006.

Sheila and her family have been members of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Bethlehem for many years.

She was fiercely proud of her Italian heritage, dedicated to her nursing career and her beloved family.

Surviving with her mother and husband is her daughter, Stephanie Russo Grillo and her husband David of West Hollywood, CA; her sons: John B. and his wife Kathleen of Easton, PA; Victor C. and his wife Alison of Bethlehem; and Frank N. and his wife Dawn of Emmaus, PA. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren: Amanda, Rachael, Victoria, Nicholas, Brianna, Peter, Mitchell and Samantha.

Shelia was preceded in death by her sister Mary Louise Orlando.

Family will receive friends, Friday, May 01, 2009, from 6-8 p.m. at Connell Funeral Home, Inc. 245 East Broad St. Bethlehem. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday

At 1 p.m. in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 3219 Santee Rd.

Bethlehem, PA 18020. Interment will follow at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem.
