Thelma R. Madalena

Thelma R. Madalena, 86, of Freemansburg, died Sunday, March 30, 2008 in her home. She was born August 20, 1921 in Fullerton, the daughter of the late August and Anna Kotcher Fritz. She was the loving wife of the late Angelo A. Madalena who died in 2003.

From 1936-1942, Thelma taught first and second grade at St. Mary's Catholic School in Catasauqua. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Thelma will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Gloria Jean Madalena of Fullerton; Regina Madalena of Freemansburg; her sister, Esther Pengilly of Fullerton; nieces, Linda Pengilly of Michigan and Heather Novajovsky of Fullerton; who both thought of Thelma as their second mom, nephew and godson, Louie Hertzog of Clifton, PA; cousins, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and many adoring friends.

She was preceded in death by, her daughter, Theresa "Dolly" Madalena and a brother, Walter Fritz.

Services: A Funeral Service will be held, Friday, April 4, 2008 at 9:15 a.m. at Connell Funeral Home, Inc. 245 East Broad St. Bethlehem, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church 1817 First St. Bethlehem, PA 18020. Visitation will be Thursday, from 7-9 p.m. and Friday, from 8-9:15 a.m. both in the funeral home. Burial will be at Holy Saviour Cemetery, in Bethlehem.

Memorials may be made to the church.
