Thomas "Tom" C. Witanek, 83, of Bethlehem, died on Sunday, December 6, 2009 at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg in Bethlehem. He was born, in West Hazleton, Luzerne County, PA. and was the son of the late Stanley and Josephine Przybek Witanek, Sr. and the widower of Mary R. Rossi Witanek who died in September of 1977 and the husband of Irene M. Sandor Tomolovski Witanek with whom he celebrated their 7th anniversary this past November.
Tom served in the U.S. Army Air Corp. during WW II. Tom was a 1944 Graduate of West Hazleton High School. He worked for PPL as a lineman retiring in 1986 after 38 years of service. Tom was a member of Ss Simon and Jude Catholic Church, Hellertown American Legion and VFW. He was a 4th degree Knight. Tom's passion was his music and loved playing his accordion and especially playing polka music.
Tom will be lovingly remembered by his wife Irene M. Sandor Tomolovski Witanek of Bethlehem, son Thomas J. Witanek and his wife Janet of Cypress, TX, daughter Mary Louise Ryan and husband Joseph of West Chester, PA two step sons Richard Tomolovski of Coplay and Leonard Tomolovski of Fountain Hill, PA, three brothers Stanley Witanek of Fair Lawn, NJ, Walter Witanek of Philadelphia, PA, and James Witanek of West Carteret, NJ, Three sisters Magdalen E. Witanek and Kathleen S. Witanek of West Hazleton, PA and Monica Sibley of Bethlehem, three grandchildren, two step grandchildren, and four step great great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents, three brothers, Joseph, Edward and Henry Witanek and two sisters, Genevieve Kustra and Dolores Witanek.
Visitation will be at Connell Funeral Home, Inc., 245 East Broad Street, Bethlehem, PA 18018 on Thursday, December 10, 2009 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Connell Funeral Home, Inc. on Friday December 11, 2009 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Ss Simon & Jude Catholic Church, 730 West Broad Street, Bethlehem on Friday, December 11, 2009 at 11:00 AM.
Memorials may be made to the Charity of One's Choice
Interment Service will be at Calvary Cemetery in Drums, PA at 1:30 PM on Friday, December 11, 2009.
