Thomas D. Smith

Thomas “Smitty” D. Smith, Sr, 91, of Fredericksburg, VA, formerly of Bethlehem, PA and Plainfield, Piscataway, & Ringoes, NJ passed away on August 23, 2022. Tom was born on April 5, 1931, in New Brunswick, NJ. He was the husband of the late Patricia D. (Samuelsen) Smith.

Smitty proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Stoore-Richie VFW in North Plainfield. Smitty was a truck driver by trade, and his CB handle was Succotash. He served on the East Amwell EMS and was a member of the B.P.O.E. 875 Elks in Fredericksburg, VA. Smitty was a very affectionate, funny, friendly, caring, and loving man. Fishing, camping, bowling, NASCAR, Rutgers football, Devils hockey, and most importantly, being surrounded by his loving family brought him so much joy.

He will be lovingly remembered by his children, son Ed Marko and wife Debi; son Peter and wife Sandi; son Thomas (Tucker) Marko and wife Anita; daughter Rosemary Kluxen and husband Mark; daughter Laura Pursell and husband Bruce; Son Kevin Marko and wife Anne Marie; daughter Jeanette Rivituso and husband Bill and daughter Kathleen O'Brien and husband Robert; 22 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Smitty was preceded in death by his sons, Thomas D. Smith, Jr., and Michael Smith; daughter, Brenda (Smith) Valentinuzzi and grandchildren, Robert and Kathleen Kluxen.

A calling hour will be held on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 from 10-11 a.m. at St. Annes Catholic Church, 450 E. Washington Ave. Bethlehem, PA 18017. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 in the Church. Burial will be held at Holy Saviour Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your local VFW in Smittys memory.
