Captain(Ret) Thomas J. Fox, 77, of Bethlehem Township, died Friday, July 20, 2018 in his home with his family by his side. Born November 19, 1940 in Dunmore, PA, he was the son of the late Mary (Golden) and William Fox. As a boy, he proudly earned his Eagle Scout Badge in 1954. Tom excelled at every sport he ever tried, and he tried most every sport. He was a 3 sport varsity athlete at Dunmore Senior High School, and went on to play Tight End for the University of Scranton's Football Program. He graduated in June of 1962 with a bachelor of science degree and married Patricia (Finn) Fox that same month. He then began his career in the military, as a United States Marine, beginning in Quantico, Virginia, then Camp Lejeune, NC, and Camp Pendleton, CA. He proudly served his country in The Vietnam War and retired from active duty in 1967. He moved his family to Baltimore, Maryland to work for American Can, and later brought them to Bethlehem PA where he worked for Capitol Records. He later worked for Textile Chemical Company in Reading PA, retiring in 1998. He was an avid fan of Red Sox Baseball and Penn State Football. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bethlehem and The VFW.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers William and Robert, his dear friend Pete Kraft, and Melissa (Kraft) Carrigan.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Patricia, daughters Patty Fox of Emmaus, Dr. Elizabeth "Beth" Fox of Philadelphia and Sheila, wife of Dr. Thomas Zarka of Bedford, NH, son Thomas R. Fox and wife Claire of Madison, NJ, 8 grandchildren, Victoria and Johannes Dikeman, Grace, Eliza, Clare and Christian Zarka, and Bridget and Patrick Fox. He will also be remembered by Pete's family whom he loved as his own, Ann Marie Kraft, Peter T. Kraft, Ryan Carrigan, Kayleigh Sprague, and Alyssa Kraft.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, July 25th 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1817 1st Street, Bethlehem PA 18020 from 10-11 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM. Burial will be private at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Thomas' name to Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
