Thomas J. Kovacs

Thomas J. Kovacs, 79, of Bethlehem, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 26, 2018. Born in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late John and Bridget (Wayne) Kovacs. He was the husband of Elaine (Mihaljow) Kovacs; they celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary in July.

Tom was a 1957 graduate of Liberty High School and a US Navy Veteran who served aboard the USS Saratoga. He was a life member of the USS Saratoga Association and attended many of their reunions. Before retiring in 2001 Tom worked in the Sales Department at the Bethlehem Steel for 38 years.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Elaine; son, Thomas J. Kovacs of Charlotte, NC; daughter, Karen Kovacs of Bethlehem; brothers, Jack Kovacs & wife Magdalene, and Richard Kovacs & wife Nancy; 4 nieces; and his beloved canine companion, Milo. He was predeceased by his dearly loved nephew and niece, Richard Kovacs and Terri Recker.

Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29, followed by an 11 a.m. memorial service, all at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem. Burial will be private.
