Thomas Kirkman “Ted” Hardy, Jr., 85, of Kirkland Village and formerly a Springtown resident of over 53 years, died on Sunday, December 27, 2015. He was born June 25, 1930 in Ridley Park, PA; son of the late Thomas and Ruth Melissa (Lukens) Hardy. Ted was a graduate of Penn State University with a B.S. M.E. degree, where he met his wife, Barbara (Johnson) Hardy. The two would have celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on January 9th.
Ted proudly served in the US Army Signal Corps. He worked in the Sales Department of the Bethlehem Steel Corporation for 31 years, earning the title of Marketing Manager. He then continued his sales career with Phoenix Forging for 8 years prior to his retirement. After retirement, Ted found great joy in spending time with his family, working on his two Ford Model A cars and maintaining their farm. Ted also enjoyed reading and collecting every Louis LAmour book, and he enjoyed studying the events of the Civil War. Ted was an avid Penn State fan. He will be remembered for his love of his family, his outgoing personality and his gift of storytelling.
Ted will be dearly missed by his wife, Barbara; sons, Thomas K. Hardy and his wife, Linda of Springtown; Donald L. Hardy of Alameda, CA; and daughters, Karen J. Klosowski and her husband, Robert of Skaneateles, NY; and Julia A. Lis and her husband, Stephen of Chalfont, PA; as well as his grandchildren, Kaitlin, Adam, Daniel and Michael. He was preceded in death by his two older brothers.
A memorial service to celebrate Teds life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on January 30th, 2016 at Kirkland Village Auditorium, 1 Kirkland Village Circle, Bethlehem, PA 18017. Inurnment will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 2344 Center St, Bethlehem, PA 18017.
