Thomas P. Nolan, Jr., 63, of Bethlehem died Friday October 19, 2007 at Lehigh Valley Hospital ? Muhlenberg after being stricken at home. He and his wife Carol McNamee Nolan were married for 37 years.
The son of the late Thomas P. and Genevieve M. Repsher Nolan, Sr., Tom was born in Philadelphia and raised in Deleware County, PA. He is a graduate of St. James Catholic High School and Widener University in Chester, PA.
Tom proudly completed the OCS program and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army, Artillery Division. He was stationed in Augsburg, Germany and Ft. Sill Oklahoma, retiring with the rank of Captain.
He was an active member of St. Anne?s Catholic Church, Bethlehem, where he had been involved with the Boy Scouts, served with his family as facilitators at the Bartholomew House, and served with his son during masses.
Tom retired in 1999 after a distinguished career with the Federal Government. He was a Special Agent/Criminal Investigator with the Internal Revenue Service, the U.S. Department of Labor-Inspector General?s Office, the U.S. Department of Labor-Strike Force and the Inspector General?s Office of the Environmental Protection Agency. During his years of service he received numerous Special Achievement Awards.
A former Little League coach, Tom was an avid sports fan. He was proud of his lifetime of service to his country and was most especially proud of his children and grand children.
Surviving along with his wife Carol are two children, Thomas P. Nolan, III and his wife Michelle of Northampton and Jane, wife of Mark Schleppy of Bethlehem, a sister Carolyn wife of Dennis Martin of Mountaintop, PA and seven grandchildren, Kody Brown, Tyler, Hollie, Hannah and Patrick Nolan, Reese and Nolan Schleppy. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Friends and family may call at Connell Funeral Home on Monday, October 23, 2007 from 7:00 ? 9:00PM and also from 8:30 ? 9:30AM on Tuesday. Funeral services will begin at 9:30AM on Tuesday in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM in St. Anne?s Catholic church, 450 Washington Ave., Bethlehem.
Burial will follow at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem.
