Tom Mccarren

January 2, 1933 — November 8, 2015

Hugh T. "Tom" McCarren, 82, of Bethlehem, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 8, 2015. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Hugh T. and Elise (Carr) McCarren. He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Ashley (Clark) McCarren.

Tom began his career in advertising at McGraw-Hill and PW Publishing. Then founded, owned and operated Choices in Cardiology and Global Newsline. He was most recently partnered with Newsday Communications. Tom was an U.S. Army veteran having served during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Easton. Tom celebrated 32 years of recovery and was very active in service work. He served on the board of directors for Freedom House and was involved with various boards at Caron Foundation helping those struggling with addictions.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Ashley; children, Hugh T. of Waseca, MN, Christopher of Greenville, SC and Maureen King of Roanoke, VA; sisters, Rita Sweeny of Orlando, FL and Cathy Adams of Northampton, MA; grandchildren, Jennie King, Kelly LaMotte and Cresse McCarren; great-grandchildren, Lake and Jaxon LaMotte; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, Nov. 28, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church. An 11 a.m. memorial service will follow in the church. Burial will be private at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church, 5300 Green Pond Road, Easton, PA 18045.
