Valentine Kurtz, 90, of Bethlehem, passed away on Sunday, May 13, 2018; giving his devoted wife of 62 years, Dorothy (Delfoe) Kurtz, the greatest Mothers Day gift; a reunion in Heaven.
He was born on December 15, 1927 in Bethlehem; son of the late Frank and Mary (Schmickl) Kurtz. Val was a graduate of Bethlehem High School Vo-Tech. He proudly served in the US Army as part of the first reconstruction wave in Japan following the war, learning his trade as an electrician. Upon his return from Japan, Val worked as an electrician until his retirement. He was a parishioner of St. Annes Catholic Church in Bethlehem. Val was a member of the Grover Cleveland and Jefferson Democratic Clubs, and Wanderers A.A. He enjoyed golf, earning two double eagles and still striving to shoot his age, even up to the week he died. Val volunteered at Musikfest as an interpreter for the German bands and he made great friends over the years, traveling to Germany several times to see those he met. He and his wife loved to travel; Val has been to every state in the contiguous US. Val enjoyed painting and shared a passion to create beautiful stained glass art with his wife.
He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Sharon Splett, her husband, George; granddaughter, Heather Weaver, all of Bethlehem, several nieces and nephews, and many dear friends. Val was preceded in death by his brother, Ernest.
