Velda M. Henry

Velda M. Henry, 78, of Emmaus, died Saturday, Sept. 15, 2007 at Lehigh Valley Hospital ? Muhlenberg. Born in Allentown she was the daughter of the late Ray G. & Arlene R. Eisenhard Keller.

Her husband, the late Rector O. Henry, Jr. died in 1975.

Velda was a lifelong member of Emmaus Moravian Church where she served as a Trustee, Sacristan, choir member, and as a member of the Willing Workers ?peanut gang? that supported special projects at the church by selling peanuts. She was a member of the King?s Daughters, the Womens Fellowship, and was active with the seniors group at the church.

She worked at Rodale, Inc. for 30 years, retiring as an Account Manager. During those years she was instrumental in Rodale?s transition to automated order processing.

A 1946 graduate of Emmaus High School, she organized her annual class reunions until last year. She graduated from Moravian College in 1950.

Velda performed in stage productions at the Civic Little Theatre in Allentown in the late 1960?s.

Although widowed young she was a happy, gregarious, and intelligent woman who accomplished much. She was especially proud of her career at Rodale and her grandchildren.

She is survived by a daughter Ellen, wife of John DeStasio of Bethlehem, two sons Michael and his wife Meda of Wescosville and James of Whitemarsh, VA., a brother Ray G. Keller, Jr. of Allentown and four grandchildren, Greg and his wife Jennifer, Marisa, Matthew and his wife Breanna, and Andrew.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday, Sept. 18 in the Emmaus Moravian Church. Calling hours are 6PM ? 8PM Monday, Sept. 17 in the church and again on Tuesday from 10:00AM ? 11:00AM in the church.

Burial will follow in Emmaus Moravian Cemetery.
