Victoria Ann Averett

Victoria Ann Averett, 85, of Bethlehem, PA, formerly of Boulder, Colorado, died

Friday August 18th at Kirkland Village in Bethlehem. Born May 24,1932 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Ogal, immigrants from Ukraine. She was married for 33 years to the late Robert Craig Averett.

Victoria earned a bachelors degree from the University of Manitoba and an masters degree in public health from the University of California, Berkeley. She worked as a health educator for the Montana State Board of Health in Helena, Montana where she met and married Robert.

Victoria dedicated herself to her husband and raising her family. Outside of those duties, she was especially proud of her work lobbying Congress for womens rights as a volunteer with the American Association of University Women when she and Robert resided in the Washington D.C. area. She was also an avid traveler, opera and classical music lover, a gourmet cook and a passionate Anglophileshe was named after Queen Victoria, whose birthday she shared. Victoria was also extremely proud of her Canadian heritage.

She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Susan Averett (Albert Folks) of Easton, PA and Nancy Averett (James Coyle) of Cincinnati Ohio and her four granddaughters, Becky Folks of Ft. Collins, CO, Natalie Folks, a student at Occidental College in Los Angeles, and Isabel and Sylvia Coyle of Cincinnati.

The family plans to hold a service in Boulder in the summer of 2018. Memorial contributions may be made in Victorias name to the Robert C. Averett Graduate Research Fund, which supports graduate students in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at the University of Colorado, Boulder. To donate call: 303-541-1290 or email giving@cu.edu
