Virginia V. Stainbrook

Virginia Vance "Ginnie" Stainbrook, 73, of Bethlehem, PA, died on Monday, October 27, 2008 at St. Luke's Hospice House in Lower Saucon Township.

Born: On May 17, 1935 in Pittsburgh, PA, she was the daughter of the late Glenn and Helen Vance of Coraopolis, PA.

Personal: She received her Bachelor of Science in Art Education from Edinboro University. She did graduate studies in fine arts from Syracuse University, Penn State, State Universities of New York and Oxford University.

Virginia worked as an art teacher K-12 in public schools for thirty years. She also taught children at the Chautauqua Institution School of Art and the Erie Day School, as well as adult education classes at community colleges in Central Square, NY, Erie, PA, and Bethlehem, PA. Ginnie was artist-in-residence/folk arts consultant for school and community groups after her retirement from the Bethlehem Area School District.

Memberships: Virginia was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Bethlehem. She served in many capacities, most recently short term mission experiences, both locally and internationally. Ginnie was a life member of Girl Scouts USA, where she served as both a leader and trainer specializing in folk arts. She also served as a volunteer for the Pennsylvania Playhouse, Zoellner Arts Center at Lehigh University, Burnside Plantation, Westminster Village Crafters, and Habitat for Humanity.

Survivors: Virginia will be lovingly remembered by her son Jess Stainbrook and his wife Keena and their three daughters Ellie, Jenna, and Maya of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; her daughter Sharon Collins and her husband Jimmy and their two daughters Verona and Jade of Franklin, Tennessee; her two sisters, Christy Anderson of Colorado and Wendy John of Connecticut; her godson, Brian Kirchner of Bethlehem.

Services: Virginia's body was donated through Humanity Gifts Registry to Temple University. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
