Walter Hoysan

March 27, 1930 — January 5, 2010

Walter died Tuesday January 5, 2010 at his home. He was born in Allentown, PA, a son of the former John and Mary Salak Hoysan. He was married to Esther Palinkas Hoysan, the love of his life. They celebrated their 50 year wedding anniversary in 2003 before she passed due to a long battle with cancer.

Walter worked for Bethlehem Steel in the #2 Machine Shop, starting as an apprentice machinist and retired after 38 years of service. He also was a judge of elections for a number of years. Walter helped coach Little League Baseball teams for many years helping his team win a championship in 1979.

Walter is survived by his family, a daughter, Patty Bartos, her husband Dave, and grandchildren Gina and Joe; a son, Ron Hoysan, granddaughter Sheila, her husband Jake, and great grandchildren Samantha and Josephine; a daughter, Rose Tice and grandsons, Jonathan, Marc, his wife Mandy, and great grandson Ayden; and son, Bill Hoysan and his wife Ann Marie, and grandchildren Tyler, Emily and Brianna. Walter also had many family and friends, and his puppy, Wally Jr.

He was a member of St. Josephat's Ukrainian Catholic Church and its Holy Name Society serving as Vice President and President for several years.

Services: Funeral services will begin at 9:30AM Saturday January 9, 2010 in the Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, Pa. followed by Office of Christian Burial 10AM at St. Josephat's Ukranian Catholic Church 1826 Kenmore Ave. Bethlehem, Pa. 18018. Family & friends are invited to call from 7-9PM Friday evening at the funeral home. Parastas will be held Friday evening from 7-7:30PM Burial will be held at Cedar Hill Memorial Park..
